Fall into Fall and beyond

The fall season is here (usually we know it as Autumn season). The leaves on trees are beginning to turn brown or fall to the ground. Weather's been a little erratic still. During the weekends, it can get quite cold and windy. But in the weekdays, it's usually hot and dry like summer. Daddy and Mommy got some new fleece pjs and long sleeve shirts for me from Old Navy and Target to prepare for this season and also for our end-of-year vacation.

My grandparents and uncles are coming to OC to visit us and we are planning to spend our December together. Mommy hopes that I can get used to them being around here with us, coz it's been soooooooo long since I really met them. I don't think I have much memories since I was still a little baby when I left Singapore (when I was 3 months old). But we always use skype to communicate during the weekends and I could see them and they could see me. Mommy thinks that initially I'll most likely be a little shy but as time goes, I'll warm up to them. No problem.

Our end of the year plans include visiting LA, Solvang, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon and some other theme parks like Disneyland and Sea World. We intend to travel these places by road (no domestic air travel). Daddy booked the hotels a few months back and a 12-passenger van to seat all of us. That way, we can all be together and they can take turns to drive the van along the way. Our trip will last till the end of December and we are gonna spend Christmas in Las Vegas hehehe...We are all looking forward to these trips as we have never travel together as one big family before.

Over the next 2 months or so, we are anticipating some changes too. Daddy is considering moving us to another place in Irvine when our lease here is up. Mommy's still looking for a job and can happen anytime if the right opportunity knocks. I'm taking my 2nd flu shot (did the first one last week) and my 15th month old vaccinations in November. Mommy's birthday is coming soon in November and she's always bugging me for a present :P My grandparents and uncles are coming to visit soon and all of a sudden, our small apartment will be filled with more people and they can all play with me. We are going travelling (on a big scale) and I will have to adjust to the different places, food and stuff. Mommy is also worried that I cannot sleep well without my own bed, or the trip makes me so tired that my normal routine goes haywire. The weather's gonna turn colder and so on.

But we all know that time passes real quick and before we know it, it's 2009.

Wind and Fire

Today is Columbus Day and Daddy did not have to go to the office. We woke up to sounds of woo...woo...coming from outside. And there was an irritating water pipe outside our bedroom wall that always produce the dong dong sound whenever strong wind hits it. Apparently there were strong gusty winds outside.

Mommy took a video clip of the swaying trees outside our kitchen window. The maximum speed of the wind could probably have hit about 50plus mph or more. Hmm..that's almost like the speed we drive our car on the road...

So we avoided going out today and stayed home, only went for a short walk around the community in the late afternoon. Daddy and Mommy watched many episodes of 溏心风暴 on the internet while I played with my toys and ran around the house most of the time. Mommy did not feel well today too. She had stuffy runny nose and a headache. Probably caught a little cold yesterday when we went to Disney Downtown.

And on the TV news, there were reports of canyon fires near Los Angeles in the San Fernando area. Many people were evacuated from their homes. The burn area grew as the winds blew over them and fire fighters and volunteers were working hard to contain the fire. This went on till the next day. 2 people had died from this event and many have lost their homes. Some fire subsided but new ones developed over time. Several schools around the region had to close too. Reports also showed that the winds will develop again on Tuesday and the area will be dry, windy and humidity will drop, very much like drought. Mommy said that last October they had the Santiago Canyon fire that was nearer to where we are staying now. But fortunately, we were still in Singapore then.
